What you get without a required subscription

Petcube lists 1080p HD live video, a fixed 110-degree wide-angle view, two-way audio, up to 8x digital zoom, and night vision rated at up to 30 feet. The camera connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and is controlled through the Petcube app.

The manufacturer says the camera can be used without a monthly plan. Optional Petcube Care adds features such as saved video history and smart alerts; always compare the current plan terms rather than assuming every alert is included for free.

The tradeoff: a fixed view, not a moving camera

Unlike Petcube Cam 360, the standard Cam does not provide motorized room-scanning. You position its fixed 110-degree view toward the place your dog or cat actually spends time. It also has no built-in laser and no treat dispenser.
